Patna: Altogether nine people died of lightning strikes in separate incidents in six districts of the state in the past 24 hours, a communique issued by the chief minister’s office (CMO) said here on Saturday. According to the CM’s office, three died in Jehanabad district, two in Madhepura and one each in East Champaran, Rohtas, Saran and Supaul.
Chief minister Nitish Kumar expressed grief over loss of lives and asked officials to ensure immediate payment of ex gratia of Rs 4 lakh to kin of each deceased.Nitish appealed to the people to remain alert and vigilant during the inclement weather condition and follow the suggestions issued from time to time by the state’s disaster management department to save themselves from the lightning strikes.
