Rath Yatra: 65-ft-high chariot of Baladevjew Temple set to roll | Bhubaneswar News
Kendrapada: The 65-feet-long chariot of Baladevjew Temple in Kendrapada is all set to roll on Rath Yatra on Sunday.
“As a part of the basic preparation for the festival, we have already repaired the 2-km-long road through which the procession will move and removed obstacles for the wooden chariot to roll to the Mausi Maa Temple,” said Nilu Mohapatra, additional district magistrate (ADM), Kendrapada.
Rath Yatra will also be held in Jajpur district on Sunday, with the chariot set to roll on NH-5 from Chatia to Badaghumari village, 14 km away, to reach the Mausi Maa Temple.
“Nowhere else does the chariot of the Lord embarks upon such a long journey,” said the chief priest of Chatia Temple, Jagannath Ojha.
Residents of Gadakujang in Jagatsinghpur district will celebrate Rath Yatra on Monday in the 500-year-old Jagannath Temple, a day after the festival in Puri.
