SAMBALPUR: A second year student of Sambalpur Homeopathic Medical College has brought an allegation of ragging against a group of senior students. The student had complained to college authorities, who filed an FIR. Three of the senior students have accused a teacher and the institution of harassment and moved police against it.
“I received a written complaint on June 28 from a second year BHMS student who alleged that she was ragged by four final year BHMS students. She said the senior students have threatened to kill her by drowning her in a bucket of water. After receiving the complaint, our institute’s committee inquired into the matter,” said in-charge principal of the college, Diptikanta Singh.
“We found that the senior students had ordered the complainant to water plants in the garden. When she refused, an argument broke out between them following which they threatened to kill her. When the four students in question were confronted, three of them denied the allegations and only one of them accepted to have threatened the second year student,” she said.
