Patna: A 30-year-old man was allegedly shot dead by his neighbours in the Bakhtiyarpur area of Patna district on Thursday. His body was later found dumped near the railway track on Karnauti Road. The victim, identified as Mohit Kumar, was a resident of Ambedkar Nagar locality in Bakhtiyarpur. He had been missing since Wednesday evening, police said.
“Mohit was shot in the face over an old enmity.His family members claimed that he had left home Wednesday evening and did not return, prompting them to search for him. They were unable to find him until they received information about the body found on the railway track in the morning,” Barh SDPO-2 Abhishek Singh said.
“A complaint has been filed with the Bakhtiyarpur police station against three named persons. The body was handed over to the family after an autopsy, and further investigation is underway,” Singh added.
Bakhtiyarpur SHO Dev Anand said, “The accused are neighbours of the deceased and had an old dispute with his family. Several quarrels had taken place between the families in the past. The named accused were not found at their home, and raids are being carried out to nab them.”
