Union minister Jitan Ram Manjhi blames monsoon for Bihar’s falling bridges | Patna News – Times of India
NEW DELHI: Union minister and former Bihar CM Jitan Ram Manjhi on Friday attributed the incidents of recent bridge collapse in the state to the abnormal amount of rainfall during the monsoon season.
“The heavy rains are the primary reason for the bridge collapses,” Manjhi said while interacting with journalists.
He also emphasized that chief minister Nitish Kumar is taking the matter very seriously.
“The CM conducted a meeting on Thursday and issued strict instructions for stringent action against any negligence involved,” he added.
Manji was responding to the queries related to the bridge collapse incidents in the state.
Noteworthy, the state has witnessed 10 such incidents in just over a fortnight.
RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, however, claimed that 12 bridges have collapsed in Bihar since June 18.
In a post on X on Thursday, he wrote, “Twelve bridges have collapsed in Bihar since June 18…Both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and chief minister Nitish Kumar are silent over these incidents in Bihar. What happened to the claims of good governance and a corruption-free government? These incidents show how corruption is rampant in every department of the state government.”
