Rape: Man Gets 20-Year Jail Term for Raping Minor | Bhubaneswar News
Kendrapada: A 29-year-old man was sentenced to 20 years of imprisonment on Saturday by ad-hoc additional sessions judge, first track special court, Kendrapada, for raping an eight-year-old girl, four years ago.
The court fined him Rs 50,000. His sentence would increase by a year if he fails to pay the fine. The court, also, directed the Odisha State Legal Services Authority (OSLSA) to pay a compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the girl.
The accused was sentenced to imprisonment under Section 376 AB of IPC and section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012.
The victim’s mother filed an FIR in Aul police station on Sept 15, 2020 and alleged that the accused raped the girl after taking her to an isolated place when she was collecting water from a tubewell and threatened to kill her if she told anyone. TNN
