FOBs: Two More Foot Over-Bridges to be Constructed in Bhubaneswar | Bhubaneswar News

Bhubaneswar: In yet another move to make the roads pedestrian-friendly, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) on Monday issued the work order for construction of two more foot over-bridges (FOBs) on NH-16 within city limits.
The two new bridges will come up at Palasuni and near Rajdhani College, Baramunda, two of the most accident-prone areas on the NH.
People of these localities have long been demanding bridges for safe movement of pedestrians.
Earlier, two such bridges have already been grounded — one near Kalinga Stadium by the side of NH-16 and another near Satsang Vihar. TOI in the past had highlighted the issues of safety of pedestrians in the absence of such facilities on the highway.
Official sources said like the existing foot over-bridges, the new ones will also be equipped with similar facilities like staircase along with lifts. NHAI sources said the move to install the lift was made to make sure that the FOBs are used.
The NHAI has also issued the work order for two more bridges to be built off the city limits at Manguli on Chandikhole-Jagatpur-Bhubaneswar section of NH-16. The NHAI has sanctioned Rs 7.29 crore for it.
Taking to X, Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi expressed her happiness over the work orders.
