BJD students’ wing threatens state-wide stir over NEET row | Bhubaneswar News
BHUBANESWAR: Biju Chhatra Janata Dal (BCJD) President Devi Ranjan Tripathy, on Monday, stated that Odisha students will not hesitate to protest if the Centre does not clarify the NEET UG issue and fails to take decisive steps to restore the credibility of the National Testing Agency (NTA).
“Simply removing the NTA chief is insufficient. The Centre should not jeopardize the future of the country’s students. If it does not take appropriate measures to ensure justice for students, a significant student movement will be organized in the state against the Centre,” Tripathy remarked.
He mentioned that the Centre had canceled the UGC-NET exam due to a question paper leak. “The NEET UG paper leak has also made students anxious about their future. Stringent action should be taken against those involved in these incidents,” he added.
Tripathy highlighted that a paper leak is a very sensitive issue. “It is extremely unfortunate that an institution like NTA could not prevent this blunder. If such incidents occur, how can students trust government institutions? NTA has lost its credibility. BCJD stands with the students,” he further added.
Meanwhile, the Communist Party of India (Marxist), Odisha state committee, demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the NEET and NET controversy. “Lakhs of students are in despair and are experiencing a very difficult time due to the Centre’s mistakes. It is unfortunate that Pradhan has not acknowledged the paper leak incident in NEET UG,” said CPI (M) State Secretary Ali Kishore Patnaik.
He stated that both the Centre and Pradhan are responsible for the question paper leak. His party plans to protest, demanding justice for the students.
Earlier, Pradhan had informed media persons about the establishment of a high-level committee of experts aimed at improving the efficiency of the examination process, eliminating all possible malpractices, strengthening data security protocols, and overhauling and reforming the NTA. “The interests of students and their bright future will always be our government’s top priority,” he concluded.
