CBI team probing UGC-NET leak case attacked in Nawada | Patna News – Times of India

Patna: Four people were arrested on Sunday for allegedly assaulting Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officials who had gone to Nawada to investigate the UGC-NET paper leak case. The incident occurred on Saturday when the officers, including a woman constable from the Nawada Town police station, reached Kasiyadih village in Rajauli locality for the investigation.The villagers, mistaking the CBI team for imposters, physically attacked them and damaged their vehicles.
“The CBI team seized two cellphones from the suspects. However, the villagers mistook the team for imposters and assaulted them. An FIR has been filed against eight named and more than 100 unidentified persons in the matter. Four people, including a woman, were arrested and sent to jail,” Nawada SP Ambrish Rahul said.
A senior police officer said the local cops were not informed about the visit of the CBI officials. “Following information that the CBI team was attacked, a police team was sent to the village,” the officer added.
The arrested persons were identified as Radha Kumari alias Madhu, Prince Kumar, Lalan Kumar, and Amarjeet Kumar. The CBI’s involvement in the case follows the govt’s order for an inquiry by the central agency into the UGC-NET paper leak case. The case was registered by the CBI on June 20, and the investigation commenced.
