NEET UG-2024: UGC-NET, NEET UG-2024 row disappoints students | Bhubaneswar News

Bhubaneswar: The cancellation of UGC-NET and discrepancy in the medical entrance test NEET UG-2024 has evoked mixed response from students in the state.
Subhasmita Jena, a student from Utkal University, who appeared for the UGC-NET examination on June 18 said candidates who performed well would be disappointed. “If it was the last attempt for candidates who desperately wanted to get a junior research fellowship (JRF), the cancellation of the exam will make them sad,” she added.
Another candidate from Balasore, requesting anonymity, said the Centre should strengthen the National Testing Agency (NTA) and take stringent action against those involved in the alleged paper leak. “Lakhs of students face problems in their careers due to the mistakes of a few people,” he added.
Members of National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), Odisha, organised a signature campaign on Thursday, demanding a Supreme Court-monitored judicial inquiry into the NEET UG-2024 issue. They also demanded exemplary punishment for people involved in the alleged paper leak. “We want a reexamination of NEET UG-2024 without delay. The Centre cannot jeopardize the future of lakhs of students,” said Yashir Nawaz, state president of NSUI.
However, students who have appeared for NEET UG this year opposed the NSUI’s idea of reexamination.
