Speeding bus kills man in Bengaluru,injures his wife & 2 daughters

Bengaluru: A speeding BMTC bus killed a 37-year-old man and injured his wife and their two daughters near Kalyan Nagar Junction Sunday morning.The deceased has been identified as Mohammed Jamsheer, a resident of Kaveri Nagar in Mahadevapura. His wife Ayesha, 31, and their daughters Aliza, 4, and Afiya, 1, are undergoing treatment.Jamsheer, along with his wife and daughters, was riding his scooter to Ayesha’s parental home on Tannery Road in DJ Halli when the accident took place.Jamsheer rode along the Kalyan Nagar flyover, and after riding down the ramp, he was heading towards Kalyan Nagar Junction when the speeding BMTC electric bus hit the scooter from behind. Jamsheer fell off to the right side of the road, while Ayesha and the two daughters fell to the left side. Jamsheer, who was run over by the rear wheels of the bus, died on the spot. Ayesha sustained a fracture in her right leg and an injury near her eye.Aliza suffered injuries all over her body as she rolled on the road after falling from the scooter. Afiya sustained an injury in her head. They were rushed to Dr BR Ambedkar Hospital, where the doctors operated on Ayesha. Afiya was subjected to MRI scanning in the evening.The bus driver, identified as Rakesh, 25, a contract employee of BMTC, abandoned his vehicle on the spot and escaped along with the conductor, fearing an attack from the crowd. He was arrested in the evening, and the bus was seized. Jamsheer was a two-wheeler mechanic who owned a garage near his house. Aliza had joined a pre-nursery school a week ago.Jamsheer’s family members said he was a man who would crack jokes with all at home. The family celebrated Bakrid on Saturday. “I am the son-in-law of the family. I was also invited. Jamsheer gifted me clothes and gave me some money to buy whatever I wished,” said Mohammed Yousuf, brother-in-law of Jamsheer, an auto driver by profession.“On Sunday morning, during breakfast, Jamsheer made all of us laugh with his jokes. Then he, with his wife and two daughters, left home. I got a call within 40 minutes informing me about the accident,” said Yousuf. He lodged a complaint with Banasawadi traffic police.
