Keonjhar: Police have arrested three individuals in connection with an attack on a contractor’s brother at a bridge construction site in Baria, Keonjhar district, on May 21.The suspects, identified as Biprabhanu Sahu, Chhalu Munda, and Dilip Munda (aged 22-24), all residents of Badadumuria village, were arrested following an investigation.Police said the attack took place around 9 pm when Shivanand Khilar, brother of contractor Sachidanand Khilar, was supervising bridge construction work alongside officials from the rural development department. The accused allegedly demanded money from Shivanand and, upon his refusal, attacked him and other workers at the site.Shivanand sustained severe head injuries and was rushed to a local hospital for treatment. “The arrests were made following a formal complaint and subsequent investigation,” said IIC of Baria police station, Ranju Hasin Kulu. The district contractors’ association has submitted a memorandum to the Keonjhar SP, demanding enhanced security measures and strict action against the perpetrators.
