MUMBAI: In a hit-and-run case, a 22-year-old delivery boy was killed when an unknown speeding tanker hit his bike near the Gandhi Nagar Junction in Kanjurmarg West on Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Salman Janmohammed Khan.According to a First Information Report (FIR) filed by 17-year-old Mehfuz Afzal Hashmi, who was riding pillion on the motorcycle, the two were returning from Tagore Nagar after picking up food. The Pulsar motorcycle was struck from behind by the water tanker in front of the Vasant Rubber Factory Pvt Ltd.Hashmi, who sustained minor injuries in the accident, stated that the tanker did not stop to offer any assistance and fled the scene. He immediately contacted Salman’s brothers—Shahban Janmohammed Khan, Maqbul Ashmi, and Aamir—who rushed to the spot. The injured were rushed on a motorcycle to Mahatma Phule Hospital in Vikhroli East, where Salman was admitted to the ICU and died a few hours later.The cause of death was reported as critical chest trauma sustained during the collision.
