Prayagraj: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated 103 redeveloped railway stations across the country, including Karchhana station of Prayagraj division of North Central Railways, via video conferencing under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, at an event held at Karchhana station on Thursday. The chief guest on the occasion, Union minister of state for health and family welfare, chemicals and fertilizers, Anupriya Singh Patel, said that over 1,300 Amrit Bharat stations are being developed nationwide under the first phase of the scheme, out of which 157 are in Uttar Pradesh, and 19 of redeveloped stations were inaugurated on Thursday. She emphasised the significant role Indian Railways plays in realising the Prime Minister’s vision of a developed India by 2047. In the last 11 years, extensive modernisation of railway infrastructure took place, including the deployment of anti-collision technology over 15,000 km and the laying of 30,000 km of new tracks. She appealed to the public to take ownership in maintaining cleanliness and protecting railway property.The event commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, followed by a warm welcome of the dignitaries on stage by divisional railway manager (DRM) Prayagraj division, Rajneesh Agarwal, and ADRM Sanjay Singh. The DRM said that Karchhana station, located on the busy Delhi–Howrah main line in the rapidly growing suburban area of Prayagraj, was redeveloped at a cost of Rs 9.8 crore. The upgraded station includes a new station building, an additional platform, and a foot overbridge for safe and convenient passenger movement. The newly built structure boasts a modern, aesthetically appealing facade that enhances both functionality and passenger experience.Praising the redevelopment work, mayor of Prayagraj Municipal Corporation, Umesh Ganesh Chandra Kesarwani cited its benefits for local trade, education, and transportation. Member of Parliament, Phulpur, Praveen Patel also addressed the gathering, emphasising the enhanced commuter facilities such as improved waiting areas and circulating zones, and the station’s key role in the city’s development.Later, cultural programmes were held concluding with a prize distribution ceremony where student winners of painting competitions were awarded by the minister. A rally with the national flag was also held in honour of the brave soldiers of Operation Sindoor.The programme was conducted by Himanshu Shukla, divisional commercial manager (Coaching), and Vasudev Pandey, chief loco Inspector, said public relations officer, Prayagraj Division, NCR Amit Kumar Singh.
