MUMBAI: After the fall of a boulder due to heavy rain in the Veravali Vilavde section of the Konkan Railway on Tuesday evening, the planned work of scaling the loose rock was underway with protection of the site from both sides, said Konkan Railway Chief Spokesperson Girish Karandikar.“During the work, a few boulders rolled down and infringed the track. An emergency block was executed to remove the infringement and protect the site,” he said.“Adequate precautions were taken, and traffic was restored within two and a half hours from the reporting of the incident. A few trains were regulated at sufficiently larger stations where frequent announcements for the passengers were made. Adequate catering arrangements were made at Ratnagiri, Vaibhavwadi, and Sawantwadi stations,” Karandikar added.KEY HIGHLIGHTS
