Patna: A 16-year-old girl was found hanging from a tree at a litchi orchard in Basantpur Chintamani panchayat under Ballia police station of Purnia district on Sunday. The deceased was identified as Pinky Kumari, daughter of Lukhar Mandal, a resident of Bela village under Raghuvansh Nagar police station in the district.
On being informed about the incident, Dhamdaha SDPO Sandeep Goldy and Ballia SHO Ajay Kumar, along with their team, reached spot and started investigation into the matter.“The police are investigating every aspect of the case. The girl was found hanging from a tree with her scarf. The forensic and dog squad teams visited the spot and collected samples from there. The body has been sent to GMCH, Purnia, for an autopsy. All related evidence is being collected,” said Dhamdaha SDPO Sandeep Goldy.
Balia SHO, Ajay Kumar, said, “Prima facie, the incident appears to be a suicide case. However, the police have not reached at any conclusion as no written complaint has been filed by the deceased’s family yet. Her mother was separated from her father without any divorce. The girl was living with her mother at her maternal grandparents’ home in Askatia Mandir Tola locality under Ballia police station.”
