The accused, identified as Lokeswaran from Ramanathapuram, targeted the victim—a software engineer from Kerala—while she was walking alone on Tuesday night.According to police reports, the incident occurred when the woman was returning from work. The accused, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, assaulted her before she managed to break free and scream for help. Bystanders alerted the authorities, leading to a swift investigation.During the arrest, Lokeswaran attempted to flee but was apprehended after a brief struggle, sustaining a hand injury.
