Koraput: Gouri Pattnaik, a medicine distributor from Jeypore, and his wife Kabita, who had pledged to donate their bodies for medical research at SLN Medical College and Hospitalin Koraput in Nov 2024, recently received official certification from the state organ and tissue transplant organisation in Cuttack. According to sources, their bodies will be preserved at the college to aid the future doctors.“It was a joint decision and we are both proud of it. Our children are aware and fully supportive,” Kabita said. The couple also sees their decision as an eco-conscious choice. “It takes about three quintals of wood to cremate a body. By donating, we’re also reducing our carbon footprint,” Gouri said.
