BENGALURU: A burglary at a pub in Rajajinagar has sparked concern amongst locals and police officials after the pub’s security guard reported that the intruder was carrying what appeared to be a pistol during the theft. Police officials await a formal complaint from the restaurant management before proceeding with their investigation, though they have not confirmed the presence of a firearm.The break-in occurred at Geometry Brewery & Kitchen, situated on 8th Main, Subramanyanagar in Rajajinagar Second Stage, between 3.30 am and 4 am on Monday. The security guard spotted an intruder inside the premises around 4 am and promptly contacted the emergency helpline 112, reporting an armed individual within the restaurant. City police, already on high alert, responded swiftly. A comprehensive search involving the bomb detection and disposal squad, drone cameras, and the quick response team (QRT) revealed no presence inside the establishment.Deputy commissioner of police (North) Saidulu Adavath stated, “Around 4 am, a security guard of Geometry Brewerycalled 112 saying one person broke open the back door and entered the pub on the 3rd floor. When the security guard checked, the miscreant showed a small weapon. The guard came down and closed the doors of the pub. The night round officers and police inspector from Subramanyanagar police station rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area. A QRT team was also pressed into operation and upon verifying the whole building, we didn’t find anyone inside.“Initial investigation indicates a burglary with around Rs 50,000 to Rs 60,000 stolen from the manager’s cash locker. The perpetrator, wearing a mask and gloves, disabled the CCTV cameras before the theft. Adavath added that they await the management’s formal complaint before Subramanyanagar police proceed with further investigation.The security guard’s statement suggests the burglar carried what looked like a pistol, though this remains unconfirmed. Investigators believe the perpetrator’s primary objective was theft, which was successfully executed.Cops suspect one of the employees role in the burglary. However, it is yet to be confirmed.
