NEW DELHI: As the tension between India and Pakistan continued to escalate, Karnataka deputy chief ministerDK Shivakumar on Saturday said that the country’s armed forces are capable of giving a fitting reply to the neighbouring country.The Indian defence forces possess the capability to respond appropriately. Shivakumar assured reporters of the readiness of the Army, Air Force and Navy.He highlighted the nationwide support for the Central Government’s actions, including Karnataka’s participation through initiatives like the Tiranga Yatra.The BSF has reported the successful destruction of a terrorist launch facility at Looni in Pakistan’s Sialkot district, opposite Akhnoor, Jammu. This action followed Pakistan Rangers’ unprovoked firing on Friday night.The counter-strike occurred in response to the ceasefire violation that commenced at 9 pm on Friday.“The terrorist launch pad at Looni was completely destroyed,” the BSF confirmed in their Saturday statement, underlining their dedication to addressing cross-border security challenges.This incident has heightened tensions along the International Boundary, with Indian forces maintaining vigilance to safeguard national security.“On May 9, from about 2100 hrs, Pakistan initiated unprovoked firing on BSF posts in the Jammu Sector.BSF responded in a commensurate manner, causing widespread damage to the posts and assets of the Pakistan Rangers along the International Boundary.The terrorist launch pad at Looni, district Sialkot, opposite Akhnoor area, was completely destroyed by the BSF. Our resolve to protect India’s sovereignty is unshaken,” BSF mentioned in the statement. Officials confirmed no Indian casualties.Previously on Friday, the BSF prevented a significant infiltration attempt in the Samba Sector, neutralising seven terrorists. The BSF detected a large group attempting to enter Indian territory under covering fire from Pakistan Rangers’ Dhandhar post early Friday through their surveillance system.India executed retaliatory strikes after Pakistan targeted 26 Indian locations on Saturday, according to sources speaking to ANI. Ongoing exchanges of fire continue at various LoC positions. Government sources revealed that Indian strikes impacted four Pakistani airbases early Saturday, amidst rising bilateral tensions.
