Keonjhar: Two men were killed when their motorcycle collided with a truck on NH-20near Palaspanga in Keonjhar district on Friday.The deceased have been identified as Santosh Kumar Mahakud (35) and Deepak Kumar Mahakud (30), residents of Kalanda village. The accident occurred while they were travelling from Jhumpura Bazaar to Palaspanga when their bike lost control and hit the rear of a moving truck.The truck driver fled the scene.IIC of Sadar police station, Amit Kumar Bhuyan, said, “The bodies were sent to Keonjhar district headquarters hospital for post-mortem and later handed over to their families. We are taking necessary steps to prevent future accidents in the area.”Police have seized the damaged motorcycle and launched an investigation to locate the truck driver.Locals expressed concern over the increasing number of accidents on the stretch, describing it as a “death trap”. They urged the administration to implement safety measures including speed breakers, strict enforcement against reckless and drunk driving, and installation of street lights.
