MBBS seats in Khammam college to go up to 150

Hyderabad: Health minister Damodara Raja Narasimha on Thursday announced that the number of MBBS seats in Khammam Medical College will be increased from 100 to 150.Speaking in Khammam, the minister said, “We are committed to strengthening healthcare services across the district.Primary healthcare is crucial, and to that end, six additional primary health centres will be sanctioned for Khammam. We are also enhancing superspeciality medical services in the district headquarters of Warangal, Karimnagar, and Khammam.”He further announced that the state govt will establish an organ retrieval centre and a regional cancer centre in Khammam, along with deploying a mobile cancer screening unit to improve early detection and outreach.”We have already sanctioned a vascular access centre in Khammam for dialysis patients. Additionally, trauma care centres will be set up every 35 kilometres across the state, including Khammam,” the minister added.Highlighting maternal health priorities, he emphasised the govt’s focus on reducing C-section deliveries and promoting normal deliveries in govt hospitals.”Last year, we filled around 7,000 nursing officer posts. The process for another 2,322 positions will be completed within a month. Recruitment for over 4,000 additional posts is currently underway,” the minister added.
