IPL 2025: Mumbai police impose traffic restrictions ahead of MI vs GT match at Wankhede Stadium today; check details here

NEW DELHI: The Mumbai Traffic Police issued a detailed traffic advisory ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match between Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans, scheduled for Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at Wankhede Stadium.
The match is set to begin at 7.30pm, and heavy vehicular and pedestrian traffic is expected in the surrounding areas.

To ensure smooth traffic flow and minimize inconvenience to the public, temporary traffic regulations and parking restrictions will be in effect from 12pm to 11.55pm on match day, as per Temporary Notification No. 553/DCP/SOUTH/TEMP/T/2025 dated March 28, 2025.
Deputy commissioner of police (South) Traffic, Pradnya Jedge, has issued the following directives:
Traffic restrictions
Motorists are advised to avoid the area around Wankhede Stadium during the restricted period. As there is no parking available at the stadium, spectators are strongly urged to use public transport, especially the suburban railway network.
Veer Nariman Road, from Churchgate Junction to Sundarmahal Junction, will be closed to vehicular traffic as required.
Alternate routes: Commuters can use these suggested routes
From Churchgate Junction, take Maharshi Karve Road to Pandit Paluskar Chowk (Opera House), turn left towards Vinoli Chowpatty, and continue to your destination.
Alternatively, travel from Ramdev Potdar Junction (C.T.O) via Chafekar Bandhu Chowk (O.C.S), proceed on M.G. Road, pass through Shyamaldas Junction, and cross Meghdut Bridge (Princess Street) to reach your location.
Parking restrictions
No parking will be allowed in the following areas:

  • “C” Road (North side): N.S. Road junction to “E” Road junction
  • “D” Road: N.S. Road junction to “E” Road junction
  • “E” Road: “D” Road junction to “C” Road junction
  • “F” Road: N.S. Road junction to “E Cross Road” junction
  • “G” Road (South side): N.S. Road junction to “E Cross Road” junction
  • “E Cross Road”: “F” Road junction to “G” Road junction
  • N.S. Road (both directions): Mafatlal Bath Signal to Air India Junction
  • Veer Nariman Road (both directions): Churchgate Junction to Sundarmahal Junction

Vehicles found violating these restrictions will be towed, and e-challans will be issued to the offenders.
Directions for spectators arriving via railway
From Churchgate station:

  • Ticket holders for Gates 01, 02, and 07 should exit at Churchgate Station and walk via ‘D’ Road.
  • Those taking Maharshi Karve Road should use the foot overbridge near Pratishta Bhavan to reach Gate 05.
  • Spectators heading via Anandilal Potdar Junction on Maharshi Karve Road should use the foot overbridge to ‘E’ Road, then proceed to Gates 04 and 05 via Mumbai Vidyapith Stadium Gate and Patan Jain Mandal Road.

From Marine Lines station:

  • Ticket holders for Gates 04 and 05A should walk via ‘F’ Road.
  • Those entering through Gates 04 and 05 should access the stadium via Mumbai Vidyapith Stadium Gate through Patan Jain Mandal Road.

Entry instructions for Wankhede Stadium

  • Ticket holders for Gate 03 should disembark at Churchgate Station and walk along the N.S. Road footpath.
  • All visitors arriving via N.S. Road (Marine Drive) must use pavements and avoid walking on the main carriageway.
  • Private vehicles should drop passengers only at designated points along N.S. Road.
  • U-turns on N.S. Road will be prohibited from two hours before match start until two hours after it ends. During this period, U-turns will be allowed only at Murali Deora Chowk and Mafatlal Junction.

This advisory is part of a broader traffic management initiative for all Mumbai Indians home matches during IPL 2025. Similar measures will be enforced for the upcoming fixture against Delhi Capitals on May 15 at Wankhede Stadium.
