CM announces 340 projects worth Rs 1,155cr for Keonjhar | Bhubaneswar News



Keonjhar: A memorial museum and interpretation centre will be established in memory of Dharanidhar Naik, chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced during the state-level birth anniversary celebrations of the freedom fighter at Kusumita village in Keonjhar district on Monday.
The CM laid the foundation stone for the Rs 50 lakh project, which will include preservation of Naik’s ancestral house and personal belongings. The facility, to be built on two acres near Naik’s residence, will also feature parks and tourist amenities. The memorial project aims to preserve Naik’s legacy and promote regional tourism. Govt will also establish a guesthouse in Bhubaneswar in Naik’s name.
“Dharanidhar was not just a revolutionary but a symbol of spirituality,” said Majhi. “His strong resolve, patriotism, and sacrifice continue to inspire our youth.”
During the ceremony, the CM unveiled plans for 340 development projects worth Rs 1,155 crore for Keonjhar district. He announced that JSW will establish a mega steel plant in Keonjhar at an initial investment of Rs 35,000 crore. Additionally, 30 new projects at a total investment of Rs 1,29,800 crore are expected to generate employment for 30,000-35,000 youths, he said.
“These initiatives will focus on industrial establishments, education, health, transportation and irrigation projects to boost Keonjhar’s economy,” the CM added.
Odia language, literature and culture minister Suryabansi Suraj, Keonjhar MP Anant Nayak, and local legislators attended the event. Kangali Charan Naik was honoured with the Dharani Samman for his community service. Members of Dharanidhar’s family were also present at the ceremony.
