Prince Harry begs for a Royal return— Will Prince William forgive and forget?

Ever since Prince Harry got married to Meghan Markle in 2018, his equations with the UK Royal family seems to be going downhill. In 2020, Harry and Meghan shocked the world when they announced that they have stepped down from their roles as senior working royal family members. The duo first moved to Canada and later to their Montecito home in California, USA where they are now living with their children– Archie and Lilibet. However, since then, Prince Harry publicly badmouthed his family and even wrote an explosive memoir ‘Spare’– all of which further strained his equations with the UK Royal family. Now, he also lost a court case demanding police protection from the Government for himself and his family while visiting the UK– which is only given to working members of the royal family! But, since then, Prince Harry seems to have taken a U-turn and he now wishes to reconcile with his family– a claim he made in a recent BBC interview.
Prince Harry may be reaching out once again for a truce with the royal family— but according to royal insiders, his efforts are unlikely to soften Prince William’s stance. In a report by Fox News, experts suggest the Prince of Wales remains resolute in maintaining distance from his younger brother.
Once famously close, the bond between the brothers has frayed beyond recognition, with no signs of repair on the horizon.
Emotional Appeal vs. Royal Resolve
In a recent BBC interview following his failed legal bid to reinstate UK security, Harry struck a more emotional tone, saying: “Life is precious… I don’t know how much longer my father has.” The comment appeared to signal a wish to reconnect.
But royal commentator Hilary Fordwich wasn’t convinced. Speaking to Fox News Digital, she said Harry’s heartfelt words clash with his ongoing public criticism of the monarchy:
“Over the years, the gulf has widened—largely due to Harry’s continued public denigration of the institution.”
She added that William now feels more determined than ever to protect the monarchy’s image.
Royal Experts: ‘No Way Back’
Echoing this view, royal expert Ian Pelham Turner offered a blunt assessment:
“Will William forgive Harry and Meghan and welcome them back? A big fat royal no.”
Turner even claimed that if a return to royal duties were ever on the table, “King Charles would have to overrule his eldest son once again.”
The damage, many believe, was sealed by Harry’s memoir Spare and his string of high-profile interviews, which the royal family reportedly views as deeply hurtful and disloyal.
Doubts Over Harry’s Sincerity
Fordwich also questioned Harry’s motives, calling his reconciliation attempts “hypocritical” without clear accountability.
“He’s made public complaints but offered no meaningful apology or acts of reconciliation,” she said, citing mixed messages and shifting narratives—from safety concerns to claims of rejection by the palace.
These inconsistencies, she argues, only complicate any chance of genuine healing.

William has never forgotten Meghan’s claim that Kate made her cry before her 2018 wedding, nor does he take lightly the damaging allegations Harry made in his tell-all memoir.
Security Dispute Adds Fuel to the Fire
Harry’s failed court bid to restore government-funded security has become another flashpoint. During his interview, he noted:
“I never asked [my father] to intervene… but there is a lot of ability and control in his hands.”
He also admitted he couldn’t imagine bringing Meghan or their children back to the UK under current conditions—a statement interpreted by some as indirect blame toward the royal household.
Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams called Harry’s suggestion of palace interference “extraordinary,” declaring the rift “unbridgeable.”
PR Strategy Gone Wrong?
Kinsey Schofield, host of the To Di For Daily podcast, said Harry and Meghan’s ongoing media appearances are hurting—not helping—their image.
“Harry says he misses his family and doesn’t feel safe. Meanwhile, Meghan claims she’s never been happier. It’s a PR disaster,” she said.
