Man alleges sexual abuse while asleep in PG in Bengaluru; Cops suspect false complaint | Bengaluru News

Bengaluru: A 29-year-old man has alleged that he was sexually assaulted in his sleep in his PG accommodation in southeast Bengaluru. He said he woke up on April 18 morning with pain in his private parts.
The Electronics City police received a medico-legal case alert on April 19 from a private hospital where the complainant, Arjun (name changed), claiming to be sexually assaulted, was undergoing treatment. An assistant sub-inspector visited the hospital and recorded Arjun’s statement. He claimed he was earlier working for a private firm but is currently jobless.
According to Arjun, he had been living in the PG in Doddathoguru, Electronics City, for several months. He claimed to have switched rooms from 301 B to 301 C, after feeling sexually targeted by unknown individuals. On April 17, around 10.30pm, he said he locked his room and went to sleep. He woke up the next morning around 10.30am with pain in his chest and anus and noticed black ink marks on his hands. He claimed someone opened the door by removing a screw of the lock and sexually assaulted him. However, he said he doesn’t suspect anyone.
A case was registered under BNS sections 115 (voluntarily causing hurt), 329 (criminal trespass), and 333 (house-trespass after preparation for hurt or assault).
During their investigation, police discovered Arjun is an accused in an attempted murder case from earlier in 2024, where he allegedly stabbed a roommate over some trivial issue. The case is currently under trial.
Doctors say complainant not abused
Police reported that Arjun declined examination at the private hospital where he was initially admitted and instead, insisted to be examined at Victoria Hospital. But the doctors who examined him reported he was not sexually assaulted. So, he claimed they didn’t give a proper report and insisted in getting a second opinion. A subsequent examination by another doctor also ruled out sexual abuse and referred him for psychiatric evaluation at Nimhans hospital.
However, police say Arjun has repeatedly skipped his appointments with the psychiatrist and is not cooperating with the investigation. A senior officer told TOI, “We suspect he may be trying to blame the roommate he had previously assaulted. However, we are yet to come to a logical conclusion.”
The officer added Arjun’s family in Bihar informed them that he has a history of mental health issues and was under treatment before relocating to Bengaluru for work.
