Wish my dad were here to see my SSC results, says Hyderabad student who lost her dad just months ago

Hyderabad: Months before the SSC exam, Ayyalasomayajula Sri Ishita lost her father to renal failure. Yet, the teenager braved through this irreparable loss to score 92.8% in her class 10, which her teachers at the Slate School say is no mean feat.
“It was a really difficult period for my family. But it was my father’s dream to see me score well in class 10 and I wanted to make him proud. So, even though it was extremely tough, I studied hard to achieve that,” said Ishita, wishing her father was around to applaud her achievement.
Recalling how his illness and deteriorating health had affected the family, the teenager said that since the start of her academic year in 2024, she and her mother had to frequently accompany him to the hospital for treatment.
“He had to undergo a kidney transplant. While he was initially stable, his sodium levels later shot up and his blood and other organs were infected. He even had to be put on the ventilator for a couple of weeks,” she shared, adding how the family was devastated by his death.
“We were hoping he would recover from his illness. We lost him in November, which was right before the pre-finals. I did not know what to do, but somehow I picked myself up and tried to concentrate on my studies,” said the 15-year-old who also had to become a support for her mother through that tough phase.
Going forward, Ishita wants to pursue a degree in master of business administration to become an HR professional. “My father spoke highly about it, so that’s what I want to be,” said the young girl who has decided to opt for MEC in her Intermediate. “I will then either do BTech or a three-year degree before joining MBA,” she said.
