RPF conducts anti-sabotage check at Egmore station – The Times of India

Chennai: After three sabotage attempts in the past one week of miscreants removing bolts from rail tracks on the Arakkonam line, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel conducted an anti-sabotage operation at Egmore railway station on Tuesday. The inspection covered the waiting room, ticket booths, foot bridges, railway signals, and tracks. The team, aided by sniffer dogs and a bomb disposal squad, checked for potential threats and suspicious items.
RPF officers also conducted an awareness programme for passengers about railway safety. They advised passengers to keep their luggage and valuables secure, use the footbridge to cross tracks, and avoid travelling on train steps or boarding a moving train. Passengers were also cautioned against taking selfies on railway tracks. Men were also told not to travel in compartments reserved for women without permission.
Passengers were told to use the railway assistance number 139 for reporting safety concerns and seeking help during emergencies. The exercise was directed by senior divisional commissioner P Ramakrishnan and assistant divisional Commissioner Ramamoorthy.
