Bengaluru Metro Eating Fine: Woman Fined for Eating Food Inside Namma Metro | Bengaluru News

BENGALURU: Namma Metro penalised a female passenger for consuming food inside a metro train. On Saturday, officials of Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) received a complaint via social media where a metro passenger posted a video of a female passenger eating food inside the train.
After verifying the footages of CCTVs, on Monday morning, a penalty of Rs 500 was imposed when the woman entered the metro at Madavara on Tumakuru Road.
A press release from BMRCL states, “A regular commuter on Namma Metro from Madavara Metro Station to Magadi Road Metro Station was today fined a penalty of Rs 500 for violation of metro rules. She disregarded metro rules by eating while travelling on the metro on April 26, 2025, a violation that was caught on camera by a fellow traveller and uploaded on social media.”
The release further states that vigilant security staff fined her when she entered Madavara Metro Station at NICE Road junction this morning. Consumption of food and beverages within metro premises and on trains is strictly prohibited, as outlined in the Bengaluru Metro regulations.
This policy aims to prevent littering, safeguard hygiene, and help maintain a pleasant atmosphere for everyone commuting. BMRCL encourages all passengers to observe these rules and make every effort to uphold the cleanliness of the metro system.
“Bengaluru Metro is a shared space, and adhering to the rules is essential for ensuring a comfortable and safe travel experience for all commuters. Passengers must remain mindful of the regulations and actively contribute to maintaining the metro environment,” the release states.
