KCR daydreaming of making a comeback, says Congress

Hyderabad: Telangana ministers Ponnam Prabhakar, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, D Anasuya alias Seethakka, and Jupally Krishna Rao on Sunday slammed BRS chief K Chandrashekhar Rao for his remarks against the Congress party during the BRS’ silver jubilee celebrations at Elkathurthy in Hanumakonda district.
The ministers reminded the former chief minister that it was Sonia Gandhi who granted Telangana statehood. “He himself termed her ‘devatha’ (goddess). His comment calling Congress as No.1 villain only reflects the frustration of the BRS president at being out of power and daydreaming of making a comeback,” they said.
Stating that KCR should not forget that the people of Telangana defeated his party in the Assembly elections and gave it a zero in Lok Sabha polls, they demanded that the former chief minister immediately withdraw his comments against the Congress.
BC welfare minister Ponnam Prabhakar appealed to the party cadres to perform ‘palabhishekam’ to the portraits of Sonia Gandhi in the state on Monday. “KCR has forgotten that he, along with his entire family, met Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi and touched her feet in gratitude for facilitating the statehood,” Ponnam said.
Revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy challenged KCR to fix a date for a special assembly session to debate the 10-year rule of the previous BRS govt and the work done by the Congress govt in the last 15 months.
“KCR is feeling insecure due to the good work and historic achievements of the Congress govt. Whatever crowd attended KCR’s public meeting was only because of the Congress govt’s democratic approval for the same, unlike the oppressive tactics unleashed by the previous BRS govt,” he said.
The minister sought to remind KCR that his govt had refused to provide RTC buses on hire to Rahul Gandhi’s public meeting in Khammam, where Ponguleti joined the Congress before the 2023 assembly elections.
