Announcing the event, Dr K Nagesh, president of the Sai Mandali, said the Padukas will be on public display at the temple from 6 am to 10 pm on Thursday and Friday

BENGALURU: Devotees of Shirdi Sai Baba will have the rare opportunity to view the saint’s original sandals (Paduka) during the ‘Paduka Utsav’ at Sai Mandir on Sampige Road, Malleshwaram. The Padukas were brought to the city on Wednesday night.
Announcing the event, Dr K Nagesh, president of the Sai Mandali, said the Padukas will be brought to city on Wednesday night and taken to temple in procession.
Public display at the temple is from 6 am to 10 pm on Thursday and Friday. “Entry to the temple is free, and a special queue has been arranged for senior citizens,” he added.
Sai Baba was known for his strong stand against religious and caste-based discrimination. His followers included both Hindus and Muslims, and he consistently refused to identify exclusively with either faith. His teachings integrated elements from both Hinduism and Islam.
He named the mosque he lived in ‘Dwarakamayi’, took part in religious ceremonies of both traditions, and used language and references from both in his discourses.
