Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Targeted by Morphed Media on Facebook | Hyderabad News

HYDERABAD: The Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) registered a criminal case following a complaint about morphed images and videos of chief minister A Revanth Reddy being circulated on Facebook.
The complaint was lodged by Mettu Sai Kumar, Chairman of the Telangana Fishermen Co-Operative Societies Federation (TGFCOF), at the Cyber Crime Police Station Headquarters, Hyderabad.
According to the petition submitted on April 3, 2025, Mettu Sai Kumar alleged that the manipulated content targeting the chief minister was shared through a Facebook profile with the URL. He stated that he suspected the involvement of the BRS party in creating and disseminating the content.
The complaint requested the immediate removal of the posts, a detailed investigation, and steps to prevent such incidents in the future.
Case Registered Under IT and BNS Sections
Based on the complaint, a case was booked by the Station House Officer, K.V.M. Prasad, deputy superintendent of police, TGCSB. The FIR was registered under Section 67 of the Information Technology Act, 2008, and Sections 336(4), 353(2), and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The investigation was assigned to Inspector D. Srinu of the Cyber Crime Police Station Headquarters.
TGCSB initiated an inquiry into the origin and spread of the manipulated digital content. The bureau will examine digital footprints and account activity linked to the Facebook profile mentioned.
