Man arrested for loan scam in Sundargarh | Bhubaneswar News

Rourkela: Koida police arrested a 43-year-old Bhubaneswar-based man for allegedly cheating over 300 people by promising govt scheme loans. The accused, Bijay Kumar Pradhan of CRP Square, was arrested on Friday after a complaint by Birendra Prasad Bahadur from Kerketta Sahi village.
According to police, the scam came to light when a woman named Josada Patra, claiming to be an area coordinator of ‘Sashakta Odisha,’ took Rs 1,400 from Bahadur in April as a loan processing fee under the Mukhyamantri Kamadhenu Yojana. Suspicious after no updates, Bahadur approached the Block Veterinary Officer and discovered the scheme was fake.
Investigations revealed that Pradhan, who once ran a news portal called ‘Sashakta Odisha,’ had appointed innocent villagers as agents, offering them jobs and salaries. He used them to collect money from others by offering fake loan opportunities under govt schemes like the Mukhyamantri Kamadhenu Yojana and Mudra Yojana.
“The accused confessed to the crime during interrogation,” said Sub Inspector Debasis Senapaty of Koida police station. “We have seized various documents including forged application forms, Aadhaar cards, voter IDs, PAN cards, and bank passbooks of the victims.” Further investigation is underway to find more victims and others involved in the scam.
