Balangir: A 32-year-old Border Security Force (BSF) jawan was found hanging from the ceiling of his house at Sialbahali village under Sadar police limits in Balangir district on Thursday. The deceased, Byasadeb Tantia, was on leave. According to police, Tantia allegedly died by suicide Wednesday. His body was found Thursday when family members forcibly opened the door. “Preliminary findings suggest that Tantia took this extreme step due to personal reasons,” said Saroj Kumar Upadhya, SDPO, Balangir.
Sources close to the family revealed that a dispute over marriage might have led to the incident. Tantia reportedly wanted to marry someone of his choice, while his family had different plans, police said. The body was handed over to his family after postmortem.
