Youth sentenced to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for raping minor in Bengaluru | Bengaluru News

Bengaluru: A special court for Pocso cases in the city has found a 24-year-old man guilty of raping a minor in Oct 2022. G Santosh Kumar, from Vidyaranyapura, has been sentenced to rigorous imprisonment for 20 years.
Passing the orders, judge MN Ramesh imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on the daily-wage worker. Public prosecutor Krishnaveni P stated that the survivor was a 16-year-old living with her mother, and Santosh had befriended her. According to the chargesheet, the offence came to light in Dec 2022 when the girl complained of stomach pain. Her mother took her to a hospital, where doctors discovered she was pregnant. It was then that she revealed Santosh had raped her in Oct and threatened her against disclosing the matter.
Immediately, the mother filed a police complaint and Santosh was arrested.
