Berhampur: Excise officers Monday arrested five persons from First Gate here for illegally transporting ganja in a car. “They seized around 18 kg of the contraband worth Rs 14 lakh and the car,” said Srutikant Routa, deputy superintendent, intelligence and enforcement bureau of excise, Berhampur.
The accused have been identified as Hebal Raita (23), Saidarka Raita (19), Maniama Raita (19) and Baishnab Mandal (23) of Chheligada, and Biju Karada (23) of Mahendragada in Gajapati district. The accused were allegedly transporting ganja from Gajapati to Berhampur.
