oKoraput: NITI Aayog has lauded the tribal-dominated Rayagada district for its remarkable performance and transformational development initiatives, branding it as a true “Champion of Change” under its aspirational districts programme.
In a post on its official X handle, NITI Aayog showcased Rayagada’s multi-sectoral development model, praising the district’s commitment to inclusive and sustainable growth. “With a community-driven approach, innovative solutions and impactful initiatives, Rayagada is creating sustainable change and setting new benchmarks for holistic development,” read the post, which was also liked by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
According to the post, Rayagada has emerged as a beacon of holistic development through a people-first and innovation-driven approach. The district has recorded significant progress across various sectors, including education, healthcare, nutrition, livelihood, early childhood care, financial inclusion, skill development, and employment.
In recognition of its outstanding efforts, NITI Aayog has awarded Rs 5 crore to Rayagada under the overall category of the aspirational district’s programme. This funding aims to accelerate the district’s development efforts and bridge gaps, particularly in areas of education and livelihood.
Collector (Rayagada) Parul Patawari expressed her gratitude and pride following the announcement. “It’s a proud moment for us as NITI Aayog published the district’s success story. The achievement could be realized because of the teamwork of the administration,” she told TOI. She said the award will inspire the district administration to work even more diligently to maintain its exemplary status.
The Rs 5 crore fund will be utilized to address key gaps in livelihood and education sectors, further supporting Rayagada’s journey towards sustainable prosperity, she added.
Rayagada has been part of the aspirational districts programme since its launch by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Jan 2018. The initiative was designed to uplift 112 districts identified for their development challenges in crucial social sectors by promoting convergence, collaboration, and competition among districts.
