Cops take job scam main accused on 2-day remand | Bhubaneswar News

Keonjhar: Town police on Friday took main accused in the multi-crore job scam, Pramila Parida, on two-day remand, following her arrest on March 26 along with accomplice, Bhuban Mahanta.
Police also conducted searches at Parida’s residence in Amrit Vihar here, recovering application forms, a diary documenting financial transactions with victims, and documents related to a company-financed gold loan, among others. Police also seized furniture items allegedly purchased to set up a dhaba.
“The investigation will continue. We have seized several crucial documents and forms. All individuals involved in the fraud will be brought under investigation,” said IIC of Town police station, Srikant Sahu.
Since Parida’s arrest, more victims have been coming forward daily to file complaints. The accused allegedly duped hundreds of unemployed youth and women of crores of rupees by promising them jobs in Keonjhar medical college. Some victims have submitted video evidence and footage to both police and media.
Investigation has also revealed possible involvement of district headquarters hospital employees in the scam. Responding to the allegations, chief district medical officer, Dr Kishore Chandra Prusti, said, “Appropriate action will be taken after the police investigation concludes.”
