Bengaluru murder: Husband says fracas after she blew air on myface ended in killing

Bengaluru: The man who stabbed his wife to death and stuffed her body into a suitcase before fleeing their south Bengaluru home, has confessed to what drove him to commit the crime, police sources said.
Rakesh Khedekar, a senior project coordinator at a private firm, killed his wife, Gouri Sambrekar, 32, on the night of March 26 in their home at Doddakammanahalli, near Hulimavu. The case took unexpected turns as he called Gouri’s brother and confessed to murdering her.
Rakesh was taken into police custody on April 2. A senior police officer said that during interrogation, Rakesh admitted to having been disturbed over Gouri always insulting his parents and younger sister.
“Gouri would always talk badly about my father, mother and sister. She always insulted them at home and outside. She suggested we shift to Bengaluru, find new jobs, and start a fresh life. She had been dominating me right from her school days. But I was madly in love with her. As she didn’t get a job for almost a month in Bengaluru, she wanted us to go back to Mumbai, and she often argued over it,” the sources quoted Rakesh as saying.
According to his confession, Rakesh and Gouri spent some private time at home on the evening of March 26. Later, they went to a nearby open space for a walk. While returning home, they purchased liquor and snacks. They reached home around 7.30 pm.
Rakesh would drink almost every day after finishing his work. Gouri would keep him company by serving him snacks and playing songs. They both agreed to play their favourite songs on a rotational basis that fateful night.
Rakesh sat with the glass and started playing the songs while Gouri prepared rice. After playing a few songs, when Gouri’s turn came, she played a Marathi song in which there were some comments about a father-son relationship. She made fun of him with the song. She went near his face, puffed her cheeks and blew air on his face repeatedly. Irritated, Rakesh pushed her. She almost fell near the kitchen. She got angry, took a knife from the kitchen, and threw it at him while hurling abuses at him.
In a fit of rage, Rakesh took the knife and stabbed her twice in the neck and once in the abdomen between 8.45 pm and 9 pm. As she was profusely bleeding, he sat next to her and explained how her actions irritated him, a senior officer said.
Gouri had emptied a suitcase to pack clothes and go back to Mumbai. Rakesh claimed that he checked her pulse, and it stopped when he stuffed her body into the suitcase. When he was pulling it towards the bathroom from the kitchen, its handle broke. Rakesh kept the suitcase near the bathroom outlet to drain out the blood.
He cleaned the house, and as his plan to take her body failed, he locked the house and left the place around 12.45am. He drove to Shirwal in Maharashtra, where he was caught.
