NEW DELHI: Karnataka has experienced a significant drop in temperature, with widespread light to moderate rainfall and isolated heavy showers.
Bengaluru saw intermittent rain throughout the morning, followed by intense thunderstorms in some areas from noon onward.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), this weather pattern is likely to persist.
Chikkamagaluru and Hassan recorded maximum temperatures nearly 7.5°C and 6°C below normal, respectively, while Bidar, Bagalkote, Vijayapura, Chitradurga, Davangere, Kodagu and Mysuru saw temperatures dipping 2 to 4 degrees below average.
The IMD has also warned of possible localised flooding.
Residents have shared images and videos of waterlogged areas, including Aghara flyover and Krishna Temple Road in Indiranagar.
Several Bengaluru neighborhoods, such as Bellandur, HAL, CV Raman Nagar, Hoodi, KR Puram, Koramangala, Marathahalli, HSR Layout, Whitefield, and Hennur, were affected by the rain.
Over the next 48 hours, Bengaluru’s temperatures are expected to hover around 29°C during the day and 20°C at night.
