Saif Ali Khan Attack: Cops’ reply to suspect’s bail plea sought | Mumbai News – The Times of India

Mumbai: The hearing on the bail plea of actor Saif Ali Khan‘s attacker was adjourned to Friday. The court directed the prosecution to submit its reply.
The accused, Shariful Fakir, a Bangladeshi national who allegedly attacked the actor at his Bandra home in Jan, has sought bail, claiming he was falsely implicated and that the FIR was an imaginary account of the complainant, a staff nurse employed at the residence. Fakir was arrested on Jan 19, three days after the attack.
“The charges sought to be attributed to the applicant are totally baseless and false, and he is falsely implicated. This is an incident of misuse and abuse of legal provisions,” the plea said.
In Jan, Mumbai police had confirmed that Shariful’s face had matched the image captured by a CCTV camera in the Bandra building. Police conducted a facial recognition test after concerns were raised that Shariful’s appearance differed that of the intruder seen in the footage.
