BJP distributes iftar kits to 150 underprivileged families

Bhubaneswar: The Khurda district unit of the BJP distributed fruit packets at mosques in the town and nearby villages on Sunday. President of Khurda district unit Lulu Badajena took lead to distribute this package, before end of the fasting month. “Such initiative was a part of party’ s move to reach minority community,” said Badajena.
BJP’s state minority wing president, Sikandar Ali, said the initiative aligns with the party’s nationwide “Saugat-e-Modi” programme, which aims to connect people with the party and the PM. The first such event in Odisha took place in Jobra, Cuttack, where Eid gift packets containing sarees, vermicelli and dry fruits were distributed to 150 underprivileged families. Ali stated that the party aims to distribute 5,000 such festive kits across the state.
The opposition BJD also hosted an Iftar party at its state office on Saturday. Leader of Opposition and former chief minister Naveen Patnaik attended the event, which was chaired by Rajya Sabha MP Munna Khan, head of the BJD’s minority wing.
