Telangana building collapse: NDRF recovers second body as rescue operations continue

HYDERABAD: NDRF and rescue personnel retrieved the body of a construction worker early on Friday from the debris of a six-storey building that collapsed in Bhadrachalam, Bhadradri Kothagudem district.
The body of P Upender, which was extricated at 2.20 am, was sent to the local government hospital for post-mortem.
On March 26, the under-construction building collapsed around 2.30 pm. The building did not have the required permissions from the authorities to construct six floors.
At 2.30 am on Thursday (March 27), rescue personnel found a worker, Ch Kameshwar Rao, under the debris and brought him out. However, he died on the way to the hospital.
Several agencies, including the NDRF team from Vijayawada, teams from ITC, the fire services department, and Singareni Collieries, have been involved in round-the-clock rescue operations.
Apart from the two masons, it is unclear if anyone else is trapped under the debris. Authorities, however, are continuing the search operations.
