In 2 yrs, Samruddhi corridor earns 1.3kcr in toll revenue | Mumbai News – The Times of India

Mumbai: Within just two years of its operation, the Mumbai-Nagpur prosperity corridor — a six-lane super expressway — has garnered more than Rs 1,300 crore in toll revenue through approximately 2 crore vehicles.
“Once the final segment of the Samruddhi corridor between Igatpuri and Bhiwandi commences operations by April, the vehicle volume will increase substantially, enabling the state to accumulate over Rs 1,200 crore in annual toll revenue. At this trajectory and given the periodical rise in toll amount, we shall recover the cost well within the initial concession period of 2045,” stated a senior MSRDC official. According to sources, the Samruddhi corridor accommodates nearly 11 lakh vehicles monthly and is generating progressively higher toll revenue annually. “Last year, the toll revenue was Rs 676 crore compared to Rs 476 crore earned in the previous year. The yearly increase in toll collection appears robust and promising,” he said.
The actual construction expenditure of the Rs 55,000 crore project is Rs 34,000 crore. Of the total 701km highway, approximately 625km is operational, with the initial stretch of 500km from Nagpur to Shirdi commencing in Dec 2022. “Within the first three months of 2025, the MSRDC has accumulated Rs 187 crore through toll collection,” disclosed a senior engineer.
The state government recently authorised MSRDC to revise the toll rates on the super expressway. The one-way toll for cars and SUVs has been increased from Rs 1,250 to Rs 1,450 for the entire 701km stretch of the prosperity corridor from April 1 this year. Activists had contested the timing, noting that the initial 500km stretch of Samruddhi from Nagpur to Shirdi, inaugurated in December 2022, has not completed three years of operation to warrant a toll increase.
