Bhubaneswar: Odisha govt on Thursday rescheduled school timings from 6:30 am to 10:30 am in view of the rise in temperature. Morning classes will commence from Friday in all schools, including government, government-aided, and privately-managed institutions under school and mass education department. “All precautionary measures will be ensured in schools, such as drinking water and ORS powder for safety of children,” said school and mass education minister Nityananda Gond.
Schools must ensure an uninterrupted supply of drinking water by repairing tubewells wherever necessary. To minimize exposure to extreme heat, schools have been instructed to restrict outdoor activities, the notification said. Parents have been requested to ensure that their children carry water bottles to school. The state govt has authorized district authorities to modify school timings further based on local weather conditions.
On Wednesday, revenue and disaster management minister Suresh Pujari had informed that morning schools will be implemented from April 2, 2025.
