GCC to set up regional control rooms to monitor violations 24/7 | Chennai News – The Times of India

Chennai: Greater Chennai Corporation will establish Regional Integrated Command and Control Centres (RICCCs) in three zones at a cost of 3 crore to strengthening local-level monitoring and emergency response.
These zonal control centres will work as extensions of the city’s central ICCC, helping the civic agency monitor sanitation, public health activities, vector control operations, traffic bottlenecks, and civic complaints in real time. Data from surveillance cameras, sensor-based monitoring, and field inspections will be integrated to facilitate faster decision-making.
Mayor R Priya said the centres will play a key role in early flood alerts, epidemic surveillance, garbage management, and coordination during public health emergencies.
The original centralised control room was set up under Chennai Smart City funds at a cost of 40 crore.
