First coastal rd suicide: Newly wed man jumps off arch bridge | Mumbai News – The Times of India

Mumbai: A newly married 30-year-old Malad resident, Darshit Seth, died by suicide by jumping off the bow-string arch bridge connecting Mumbai Coastal Road and Bandra-Worli sea link on Tuesday evening. His body was found on Wednesday. This is the first suicide on the coastal road, said police.
Seth, who worked in a private firm at BKC, got married four months ago. “On Tuesday, he called up his family and said he would be late. He drove from the sea link and stopped on the arch bridge. He got out of the car, waited for two minutes, kept his phone in the car and jumped into the sea,” said an officer. No suicide note was found.
At 7.45pm, 2 marshals on the coastal road spotted the car with its indicator lights on. They checked the CCTV footage and saw the driver jumping into the sea. Navy, Coast Guard, and fishermen began search ops. On Wednesday, the body was floating below the sea link’s landing point bridge. Worli police registered an accidental death case.
