Hyderabad: A 38-year-old Nepali man was sentenced to rigorous imprisonment for the rest of his life and fined 10,000 for raping his minor daughter.
Special judge for Pocso cases at Nampally, T Anitha, conducted the trial in the case reported at Domalguda police station and delivered the verdict on Tuesday. In Sept 2023, when the survivor was fast asleep, the accused woke her up, tied her hands, gagged her mouth, and raped her at knifepoint.
Taking into consideration the statement of the survivor, other witnesses, and evidence gathered during the investigation, the judge sentenced him and also awarded 2 lakh compensation to the survivor.
According to police, the couple, along with their children, migrated to Hyderabad for livelihood a few months before the incident and were residing at Domalguda. The convict was unemployed, while his wife worked as a domestic help. On the day of the incident, all the children were asleep, as their mother went to work.
Their father came home and sexually assaulted the girl, who was then 15 years. He threatened to kill her if she revealed it to the family members. However, the girl confided in her sister and then to their mother, following which a case was registered, said cops.
