NEW DELHI: Mumbai police rescued four struggling female actors and arrested a man during a raid on a prostitution racket at a hotel in Powai area on Friday, based on specific information received by authorities, according to news agency PTI.
The police operation led to the arrest of Shyam Sunder Arora, who was allegedly involved in forcing women into the flesh trade. One of the rescued women had previously worked in Hindi television serials.
“Following specific information, the police laid a trap at the hotel and apprehended a man, identified as Shyam Sunder Arora, for pushing women into flesh trade. Four struggling female actors were rescued,” a police official said.
The Powai Police Station has registered a case against Arora and his associate under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act.
Police officials confirmed that investigations into the case are ongoing.
