Father stabs son to death

Balasore: A man allegedly stabbed his son to death during a heated family dispute at Narama village under Khaira police station limits in Balasore district on Wednesday night.
Suchendra Mahalik, inspector in-charge of Khaira police station, said the accused has been arrested and the murder weapon has been seized. The body has been sent for post-mortem. A case has been registered in this connection and further investigation is ongoing.
The deceased was identified as Rajesh Singh (19).
According to police, the accused, identified as Jogendra Singh (44), returned home in an intoxicated state and got into an argument with his wife, Muni Singh. The dispute escalated when Jogendra started thrashing Muni. Seeing his mother being assaulted, Rajesh, their elder son, intervened to protect her and protested his father’s actions. Enraged by his son’s opposition, Jogendra lost control and attacked Rajesh with a sharp knife, stabbing him in the chest. As Rajesh collapsed, the accused fled the scene.
Hearing the commotion, neighbours rushed to the house and immediately took Rajesh to Oupada Hospital. However, due to the absence of doctors there, he was shifted to Soro Hospital where he was declared dead upon arrival.
